On 11th December, 2017, Hanoi School of Business and Management (HSB) – Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNU) has successful organized the opening Ceremony of “GEM Discoverer Prelude Hanoi Program, Winter 2017”. Which was designed specially for the students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) – Singapore.
Nanyang Technological University is one of the three largest public and autonomous universities in Singapore. Young and research-intensive, NTU is ranked 13th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2015. When it comes to engineering, NTU Singapore is ranked 7th in the World University Rankings by Subject and 6th in the QS World University Rankings by Faculty. NTU is also placed 1st amongst the world’s best young universities according to the QS Top 50. Being well known for its cutting-edge research and revolutionary technological innovation, NTU is the number 1 Asian University in terms of research citation impact (Thomson Reuters Incites 2012).

GEM Discoverer Prelude Hanoi Program, Winter 2017
In this international training program, 17 students from many schools and majors including electrics – electronics, pharmaceutical chemistry, mechanics, aviation, business, technology, information, sport had come to Vietnam … The program is a 2-week intensive course focusing on two components which provide participants with insights into Vietnamese economy and culture highlights through series of seminars, field trips and interactive activities. Students had enjoyed theoretical lessons comprising interdisciplinary subjects; seminars and extracurricular activities including visits to enterprises and tours to famously beautiful landscapes/trade village in Vietnam. At the end of the program, NTU’s students will have to take a final test for assessment of their gained knowledge through the program before receiving Certificate of Completion by HSB. In accordance with the signed contract, some credits of the program will be accredited by NTU into students’ studying program at NTU.
In two weeks of studying at HSB and living in Hanoi, the Singaporean students will gain overview of different aspects including economics, politics, culture and society in Vietnam under the lectures by HSB’s experienced lecturers including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Dinh Phi, Dean of HSB – VNU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Thang – Vice Dean of HSB – VNU; Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Tung, Dean of Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Sciences – VNU; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Loc, Chair of the Scientific and Training Committee, University of Education – VNU; Mr. Bobby Liu, Founder of Asia startups and HubIT; Dr. Can Van Luc – Bank of Investment and Development in Vietnam (BIDV); Prof. Pham Van Cu, Director of International Centre for Advanced Research on Global Change ICARGC; Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Vice Dean of Monetary Forecasting and Statistics Department, The State Bank of Vietnam and other lecturers, who are prominent businessmen and researchers in Vietnam. Syllabus of the program “Vietnam Discoverer Prelude 2017” comprises following subjects:

(4) HR issues in Vietnam Labor market
(5) Environment in Vietnam: Opportunities and Benefits

(8) International Integration of Vietnamese Economy
(9) Vietnam and ASEAN: Diplomatic Relations and Economy Role
(10) Innovation of Agriculture in Vietnam
(11) The Vietnam Startup Ecosystem
(12) Vietnamese Financial Market
(13) Vietnamese Banking System: The potential development strategy
(14) Environmental Issues and Government response policy
“Attending the programme, students could acquire knowledge that not only help them to put themselves into a higher level of personal development ladder but also give them a chance to serve their country better. Hence, the programme is also a bridge to connect the two countries’ culture”, said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Dinh Phi, Dean of Hanoi School of Business and Management (HSB).

Besides studying in the lecture hall, the NTU students will also have various co-curricular activities, which were designed to provide them a more comprehensive overview of Vietnamese people, culture, business, and country. The interesting extracurricular activities are:
