Organize International Training Program “Vietnam Discoverer Prelude 2013”

“Vietnam Discoverer Prelude 2013” is the international training program designed and organized by Hanoi School of Business (HSB) – Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNU) for the students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) – Singapore. NTU is one of the top three public universities of Singapore and is a member of ASEAN Universities Network (AUN) (VNU is also a member of this network). In 2013, NTU is ranked 41th in the QS World University Ranking.
In this international training program, NTU has sent 37 students from many schools and majors including electrics – electronics, pharmaceutical chemistry, mechanics, aviation, business, technology, information, sport … The program is two-week long with theoretical part comprises interdisciplinary subjects; seminars and extracurricular activities including visits to enterprises and tours to famously beautiful landscapes/trade village in Vietnam. At the end of the program, NTU’s students will have to take a final test for assessment of their gained knowledge through the program before receiving Certificate of Completion by HSB. In accordance with the signed contract, some credits of the program will be accredited by NTU into students’ studying program at NTU.
In the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hoang Dinh Phi shared with the students his good memories and experiences about Singapore colleagues and Singapore friends. Besides, Prof. Dr. Hoang Dinh Phi also expressed his trust in a sustainable and long-term cooperation between HSB and NTU in the international exchange programs on education and scientific research. The intensive program is designed with the length of two weeks and is becoming an annual program between HSB and NTU in the near future.

In two weeks of studying at HSB and living in Hanoi, the Singaporean students will gain overview of different aspects including economics, politics, culture and society in Vietnam under the lectures by HSB’s experienced lecturers including Prof. Dr. Hoang Dinh Phi, Dean of HSB – VNU; Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Tung, Dean of Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Sciences – VNU; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Loc, Chair of the Scientific and Training Committee, University of Education – VNU; PhD. Can Van Luc, Deputy CEO – Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and other lecturers, who are prominent businessmen and researchers in Vietnam. Syllabus of the program “Vietnam Discoverer Prelude 2013” comprises following subjects:

(3) Vietnamese Economy Overview (I): Moving Towards the Third Decade of Transition and Development
(4) Vietnamese Economy Overview (II): Macro Economics Issues: On the Bumpy Road to Future
(5) Basis of Management
(6) Political Structure & Government Structure
(7) Dynamics of FDI Investment & Investing in Vietnam – long-term trends and current patterns in Vietnam
(8) Human Resource Issues in Vietnamese competitive market
(9) Education System in Vietnam
(10) Business Innovation in Vietnam and some comparisons
(11) Business Innovation in Vietnamese Agriculture
(12) Vietnam Financial Market (1): An overview
(13) Vietnam Financial Market (2): The Stock Market

Besides studying in the lecture hall, the NTU students will also have various co-curricular activities, which were designed to provide them a more comprehensive overview of Vietnamese people, culture, business, and country. The interesting extracurricular activities are:
