10/01/2013, Vietnam National University Hanoi Organized the Meeting of Design Team Members for Master Program on Management of Non-traditional Security.The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan, Director of VNU; and Dr. Nguyen Van Huong, Senior Lieutenant-General and Former Vice Minister of Police.

Being a national center for higher education, transdisciplinary training, scientific research, and technology transfer, having the mission to pioneer in educational innovation and in solving the issues of Vietnam high-quality human resources meeting international standards, VNU has developed new transdiciplinary master programs on climate change, sustainability science, technology management, entrepreneurship… And the Decision No. 3397/QD-DT dated 10th. Oct. 2012 has set up the Management Team for Master Program on Non-traditional Security.

This is the first time such a New Program on Management of Non-traditional Security is designed and introduced in Vietnam with the aims to educate masters in security management who will have the interdisciplinary knowledge, new vision, research & forecast ability, and the skills to build and implement strategies & plans to control, prevent and respond to threats that cause the insecurity and harm the sustainable development of nation, community, organizations and enterprises…

The output of this program will be the Masters of Science in Management of Security with specialization in Non-traditional Security who can carry out the jobs in 3 main groups of professions:

(1) Leaders and managers of governmental and provincial offices who are responsible for policy making and actions to manage the economics, society, prevention & response to natural calamities, social evils…

(2) Managers & staff members of international relations offices, and NGO; Board members, controllers, risk management officers, legal & security managers, security experts of organizations and enterprises like FDI firms, MNC…

(3) Researchers & lecturers wanting to focus more on interdisciplinary subjects such as security, risk management, sustainable development… During the Meeting, the members have praised the initiatives, agreed with the aims and the course outline of the program, and have made great contributions for the success of the program.
