CLIMATE ENTREPRENEURSHIP: A “GREEN JOURNEY” OF ESG WITH THE CEO OF NUOA.IO

(October 3, 2023) On Tuesday morning, as part of the curriculum of the Global Business course, undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor’s program for Management of Enterprise and Technology (MET) at the Hanoi School of Business and Management (HSB) had the opportunity to engage in a meaningful discussion with Mr. Dinh Trung Hieu.

Mr. Hieu, a seasoned entrepreneur with extensive experience spanning consumer goods, finance, technology, and climate change within Vietnam and across Asia, graciously shared his insights.

Dinh Trung Hieu occupies a prominent position among the pioneering figures in the realm of climate entrepreneurship in Vietnam. Currently, he serves as the co-founder and CEO of Nuoa.io, a technology startup that specializes in offering management solutions and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reports to assist businesses in achieving sustainable development goals. Furthermore, Mr. Hieu has assumed leadership roles as the General Director of Strategy at Arches Ltd, an Asian financial research services company, as well as the Head of Trade Marketing for the Southeast Asia region at AB InBev, a global beverage conglomerate. He is also recognized as a founding member of the Vietnam office of Boston Consulting Group, a renowned player in the global strategic consulting industry.

Drawing from his wealth of experience and practical case studies in industries such as textiles, garments, education, and food, Mr. Hieu conveyed to HSB students the significance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations. Additionally, he shed light on global consumer preferences and offered valuable recommendations for Vietnamese businesses seeking to align themselves with emerging opportunities in this domain.

ESG, standing for Environmental, Social, and Governance, has swiftly emerged as a pivotal factor in the realms of business and investment. Contemporary consumers increasingly demand that enterprises demonstrate commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and sound governance practices. Mr. Hieu engaged in a substantive dialogue with HSB students, elucidating the imperative nature of ESG in the 21st century and underscoring the urgency for companies to address ESG concerns, particularly those pertaining to climate change.

This dialogue served as an enlightening exploration of the significance of ESG, climate change, and climate entrepreneurship. It is our fervent hope that this message will resonate and inspire undergraduate students to contribute to the “green revolution,” effectively balancing business interests, environmental preservation, and societal well-being. Moreover, we aspire to stimulate novel startup ideas in this era marked by transformative technological advancements.
