Introduction to Data Science

This module builds on and deepens data analysis skills of collecting, wrangling, exploring, and visualizing data, and explores some examples of machine learning. Students will be taught using some of the latest data science tools, e.g. Python and its libraries (scikit-learn) or R, Jupyter Lab, GitHub. By the end of the course, students should have developed a mind set of a data professional and continue learning data science approaches and problems. Students should be able to perform the entire process of the data analytics life cycle for fundamental machine learning algorithms.

The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the principles, techniques, and applications of handling large volumes of data and extracting valuable insights from it. Examples are illustrated in the Python language. Through this course, students will explore the challenges and opportunities presented by big data and develop the necessary skills to analyze, process, and interpret data effectively.
