On the morning of November 6th, at Vo Nguyen Giap Auditorium (HSB), a seminar program entitled “The Impact of AI in Education” took place. Featuring Dr. Cecilia Chen, Global Marketing Director, School of Education, Johns Hopkins University, USA.
In the seminar, the expert pointed out many benefits that Artificial Intelligence brings to education, showing how AI is changing the way we access information, supporting the learning process and improving teaching effectiveness. She highlighted the role of AI as a self-assessment, critical engagement and enhancing language proficiency tool.
Artificial Intelligence has brought valuable insights and helped improve efficiency in education, however the expert also pointed out the limitations and risks of using AI. The convenience of AI has unintentionally led users to over-reliance, resulting in plagiarism and a lack of independent thinking. Moreover, AI may provide inaccurate information, which could affect the learning process. Therefore, Dr. Chen emphasized that AI should only be used as an assistant.
In the age of rapidly advancing technology, AI has played a significant role in education, completing the way we access and learn information. However, we should use it ethically, as a tool to enhance proficiency and deep learning rather than relying on it.
Ms. Cecilia Chen delivered an incredibly interesting and effective seminar, opening up many aspects of Artificial Intelligence technology in the educational environment. Showing many retrospective and knowledge for students on how to use AI in their academic career.
This seminar was also a special opportunity for students to enhance their international exchange, broaden their awareness, and connect with global learning environments, preparing them better for a future in an increasingly globalized world.
